Strut your Stuff - Fashion

the pictures didn’t seem to work when I posted them last time … here are some of the coats that I liked: Michael Kors (favorite one, the brand always has such a crisp and clean look to it), Jessica Simpson, Express (the leather one, the white wool one and the faux fur one) and BP.

Okay, let’s all admit it. Some people just can’t pull off plaid. And why is that? It’s because they do a bad job at it. Some ways you can incorporate the popular pattern into your attire:

  • layer a plaid button up with a solid colored long sleeve shirt underneath, don’t button it or partially button it
  • pair with a solid skirt, solid tights and scarf
  • wear a jacket over it
  • skirt and boots
  • try a ruffled plaid shirt
  • plaid dress with belt at the waist and boots

why follow everyone else?

posted by rebel2011

I have always hated getting up and going to school and people giving me looks about how i might clash in my style, or how i may dress different from the Latest fashion magazine models. I wake up throw on any kind of clothes and walk out the door. What happened to being unique like that? what ever happened to being who we are and not copying other people? I never get tired of that fight with my parents about one minute saying ” you should be yourself”…..then the next minute “why don’t you dress like her?”. I am very into anything comfortable. i honestly could careless about how i look. i mean sure if u see a guy you like you obviously turn to your best friend and ask them “do i look okay?” it’s common. but if you try and change yourself for a guy, friends, or even your parents….now that’s rediculous.I know you are thinking there’s no way that i do that! but seriously now, i know for a fact that everyo9ne indeed at sometime or another, has changed their appearence or personality for someone. look back at old pictures or at old friends and compare to now how much people change. Whether it’s because of t.v., models, or peer presure around you. it’s rediculous to pretend to be someone you’re not. or even to dress like someone you’re not..i mean come on isn’t that what halloween’s for?
is it just me or other people to?

*please comment and tell me what you think =P

Okay, let’s get serious. All I can say to those puffer marshmallow-esque coats that we all must admit to having worn at least once in our lives in the winter, is UGH. Now I would rather layer to stay warm, thank you very much. I have this strong aversion to Northface. What was that created for again? Camping? I actually bought a DKNY puffer a few years ago with a furry hood, ended up looking like an eskimo. Don’t think I’ll be wearing that one much unless I am desperate. What looks great (well, in my honest opinion) are peacoats and trench coats. They look sophisticated, not juvenile. Even leather jackets fair well. The one thing to keep in mind when buying a coat or jacket is to feel comfortable! I made the mistake of buying a yellow peacoat that was too structured. Here’s some appealing ones that I found:  INC International Concepts Belted Leather JacketExpress Leather Motorcycle Jacket (I like how this one isn’t typical black)Another one from Express (white is so clean and crisp looking)BP. Coat (sold at Nordstrom, the purple is adorable)Jessica Simpson (I LOVE the oversized collar, take it from this picture, pairing a long coat with boots is a quick fix to an undecisive day in front of your closet)  London FogD&G Cropped Wool Coat (okay, not a winter essential but I thought it was cute)Michael Kors Belted Raincoat (this is definitely my favorite, the belt at the waist slims the wearer down)D&G Trench (classic
